Dr. Alana Shaw has dedicated her practice to the advancement of integrative medicine and reproductive and hormonal health. After studying reproductive endocrinology, infertility, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Dr. Shaw spent several years working closely alongside Dr. Anthony Cheung MD at the Grace Fertility Centre. She is a regular speaker and presenter at local and national conferences and is a co-founder of Campfire Professional Development in Medicine and also Mint Integrative Health Inc. Dr. Shaw is dual licensed as a registered acupuncturist and naturopathic physician, and has advanced naturopathic training in obstetrics, pediatrics and gynecology. Her compassionate approach to medicine is informed by her personal experiences with cancer, pcos, pregnancy loss and perinatal trauma.
She is a member of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) and is highly trained in prescribing hormone replacement therapy for perimenopause and menopause. Dr. Shaw is also certified to perform ultrasound guided IUD insertions in office and has a passion for providing her patients with safe, effective and comfortable contraception options.
Dr. Shaw received her undergraduate degree (BSc.) from McMaster University where she also enjoyed a successful varsity basketball career. She graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2003. Dr. Shaw is a mature mother of 2, dog lover and fitness enthusiast.
