Digestive Health & IBS Treatment

Comprehensive Digestive and Gut Health Care in Vancouver for IBS, GERD, and Microbiome Support

If you’re searching for a doctor who treats IBS, gut inflammation, GERD, food sensitivities, or chronic bloating in Vancouver, you’re in the right place.

At Mint, our Naturopathic Doctors provide comprehensive, root-cause digestive care designed to restore comfort, improve nutrient absorption, and support long-term GI wellness. We work with patients experiencing everything from occasional heartburn to complex inflammatory bowel conditions, always with a personalized, evidence-informed approach.

Why Gut Health Matters

Your digestive system is more than just a food-processing tube. It is closely connected to your immune system, hormone balance, brain and mood, energy levels, and skin health. When digestion is compromised, it can lead to symptoms that affect your entire body. Conditions such as IBS, IBD, gut inflammation, food intolerances, heartburn, and GERD often stem from deeper imbalances involving the microbiome, immune regulation, stomach acid levels, or intestinal barrier integrity. Our goal is not simply to suppress symptoms, but to understand why they are happening and address the root cause.

Common Digestive Conditions We Treat

  • IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) – IBS-C, IBS-D, and mixed patterns
  • IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) – including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
  • Gut inflammation and leaky gut
  • Heartburn & GERD
  • Chronic bloating and gas
  • SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth)
  • Food allergies, sensitivities, and intolerances
  • Constipation or chronic diarrhea
  • Iron or B12 deficiency related to poor absorption
  • Digestive concerns linked to autoimmune conditions

Signs You May Benefit from Digestive Support

If you’re experiencing abdominal pain, belching, reflux, urgency after meals, or alternating bowel patterns, your microbiome and digestive function may need targeted support.

You may benefit from seeing a digestive health doctor if you experience bloating that worsens throughout the day, a heavy feeling after meals, undigested food in your stool, heartburn or acid reflux, constipation, diarrhea, or alternating bowel patterns, skin flare-ups such as eczema or rosacea, anxiety or low mood linked to digestive distress, or symptoms consistently triggered by specific foods. If you are noticing abdominal pain, belching, urgency after meals, or unpredictable digestion, your microbiome and overall digestive function may need targeted support.

Digestive dysfunction can also contribute to nutrient deficiencies, persistent fatigue, and systemic inflammation, which is why early assessment and personalized care are so important for long term GI wellness.

Balancing the microbiome is often the key to resolving chronic IBS symptoms, reducing gut inflammation, and restoring proper digestion and absorption.

Increasing the intake of foods rich in probiotics and prebiotics can help improve gut health, but knowing when, how, and for whom is essential. In some cases (like active SIBO), certain prebiotic fibres may worsen symptoms. That’s why individualized care matters.

Personalized Gut Health Treatment Plan

Many patients in Vancouver come to us after years of managing IBS, IBD, or chronic gut inflammation without lasting relief. Whether you have a formal diagnosis or suspect deeper digestive imbalance, our approach focuses on identifying triggers, restoring microbial balance, supporting immune regulation, repairing the intestinal barrier, and optimizing digestion and absorption. Our goal is simple: reduce discomfort, improve function, and help you feel confident eating again.

No two patients are alike, which is why every digestive health plan is customized to your history, symptoms, and test results. Your treatment plan may include:

Clinical Nutrition and Therapeutic Diet Strategies

We use targeted nutrition to calm gut inflammation and support healing. This may include:

  • Eliminating reactive foods
  • Addressing food allergies, sensitivities, and intolerances
  • Implementing anti-inflammatory nutrition plans
  • Strategically incorporating probiotics and prebiotics when appropriate
  • Supporting blood sugar balance to reduce stress on the gut

Targeted Supplementation

When indicated, we may recommend:

  • Herbal antimicrobials
  • Digestive enzymes
  • Stomach acid support
  • Gut-healing nutrients
  • Microbiome restoration protocols

All supplements are selected carefully based on your presentation and testing to ensure they are both safe and effective.

Integrative Therapies

For patients with malabsorption or nutrient deficiencies, your plan may include:

  • IV nutrient therapy
  • Stress and nervous system regulation strategies
  • Immune-modulating support

These therapies are particularly helpful for patients managing IBS, GERD, and inflammation-driven digestive concerns.
